At MAKÜ: "Sector-Campus" Meeting: A Bridge from Theory to Practice

The collaboration protocol between the Higher Education Council (YÖK) and the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) is bearing fruit in Burdur. In collaboration with MAKÜ Technical Sciences Vocational School and Burdur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BUTSO), leading figures from the industry brought their experiences directly into the classrooms.

Within the framework of the protocol signed between YÖK and TOBB; the strategic partnership established between Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) Technical Sciences Vocational School and Burdur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BUTSO) brought together industry professionals with students.

The Master-Apprentice Tradition Meets Modern Education

As part of the protocol, 9 associate degree programs within the Technical Sciences Vocational School were matched with pioneering local firms in their fields. Industry experts included in the academic calendar participated as guest instructors in the classes, sharing with students the latest developments in the field, the newest technologies used, and the unwritten rules of business life.

Industry Emphasis in Education

In the meetings that attracted great interest from students; many critical areas were discussed, ranging from energy distribution to automotive electronics, software solutions to industrial automation. The names and programs that went into the field as part of the collaboration were matched as follows:

• Natural Gas Technology: Harun Yeşil, the Provincial Director of Torosgaz Burdur, and his team (Kıvanç Şenol, İsmail Keleş, Ömer Çakır, Onur Gürdal); personally conveyed the processes of natural gas distribution and internal installations.
• Computer Programming: Kayhan Işık, owner of Kayhan Computer; shared the sectoral standards in software and security systems.
• Digital Transformation Electronics, Control and Automation Technology, Mechatronics Program, and Autonomous Systems Technician: Mehmet Acar from Acar Electric; presented his experiences on industrial control systems.
• Automotive Technology: Hulusi Kılınç and Osman Kılınç from Güven Oto; explained the innovations in automotive electronics and emission technologies.
• Machine and Manufacturing Management Systems: Burak Cinoğlu, Production Manager at ECTS Machinery; brought engineering applications from the production line to the classroom.

“Precision Strike” Education for Employment

It is stated that these meetings are of critical importance for training qualified technical personnel needed by the Burdur industry. The industry representatives participating in the classes not only conveyed technical knowledge but also guided students in clarifying their career paths regarding post-graduation employment processes.
