Our school's Machine and Manufacturing Management Systems Operator Program first-year students, on April 27, 2026, conducted a technical trip to industrial organizations operating under Polat Group and Norm Holding in Aydın and İzmir provinces, accompanied by Instructor Sualp DENİZ, Instructor Muhammed KÖKCE, Instructor Dr. Orhan ARMAĞAN, and Instructor Samed ENSER.

As part of the technical trip, the first visit was made to Polat Group Reducer located in Aydın. The company operating in the field of power transmission systems produces helical, conical, planetary, and industrial type reducers, serving national and international markets. Students had the opportunity to observe gear manufacturing processes, machining techniques, assembly operations, and performance testing stages on-site. Additionally, they gained information about high-precision manufacturing technologies, quality control practices, and R&D activities.

At the Polat Machine facilities operating under Polat Group in the same region, industrial centrifugal systems, olive oil production technologies, and process machines for different sectors were examined. Students learned about engineering-based design processes and production integration by observing them on-site, gaining insights into a multi-sectoral production approach.

In the second part of the technical trip, the Norm Fasteners Nut, Norm Fasteners Bolt, and Norm Tooling facilities operating under Norm Holding in the İzmir Atatürk Organized Industrial Zone were visited. Within Norm Holding, which operates at world standards in the production of fasteners; students had the opportunity to examine the production processes from raw material to final product in detail.

In this context, cold forming, heat treatment, surface coating, mold production, CNC machines, and automatic quality control systems were observed on-site. High-volume mass production lines and production and quality processes conducted at international standards provided an important experience for the students.

Through the technical trip, students had the opportunity to reinforce their theoretical knowledge in the field of machine and manufacturing technologies by observing production processes on-site. They also gained information about occupational health and safety practices as well as the production discipline conducted at international standards, in addition to the production lines. Direct experience was gained regarding the production structures, quality systems, and technological infrastructures of industrial organizations. It has been stated that such technical trips contribute to the professional development of students and strengthen the industry-academia interaction.

We would like to thank the authorities of Polat Group Reducer and Polat Machine, as well as the Norm Fasteners Nut, Norm Fasteners Bolt, and Norm Tooling facilities operating under Norm Holding, for their interest, hospitality, and the valuable information they shared with our students.

Additionally, students have expressed their gratitude to our academic staff who contributed to the planning and execution of the technical trip and to the school and university administration for their unwavering support.
