At MAKÜ Technical Sciences Vocational School, Future Technologies and Sector Collaborations Were Discussed

Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) Technical Sciences Vocational School held a Unit Advisory Board meeting on April 16, 2026, establishing a new vision for school-industry collaboration.

The advisory board, chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ragıp Yıldırım, included deputy directors Dr. Faculty Member Ahmet Böbrek and Dr. Faculty Member İbrahim Çetiner, department heads Assoc. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Kırbaş, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali İhsan Kaya, Instructor Selman Gürsoy, Instructor Muharrem Usta, Instructor Gökhan Turan, and Digital Transformation Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sedat Metlek , bringing together leading representatives from the sector and student representatives. Our university, which has a rich educational heritage spanning 50 years since 1976 and has been certified for its quality by receiving "Full Institutional Accreditation" for 5 years, also discussed strategic decisions to enhance the educational vision of the vocational school, which has 2 accredited programs.

The Power of the Sector Was Represented in the Board

The following representatives participated in the meeting as external stakeholders, contributing to the school's educational processes with their sectoral experiences:

• İhsan Somuncu: Human Resources Director of Kilit Group
• Musa Özen: Production Manager of Sütofis Food Products Industry and Trade Inc.
• Özgür Bulut: Mediterranean Electricity Distribution Burdur Regional Manager
• Fatih Esin Aktekeli: Metfa Energy Engineering (Graduate Student Representative)

New Programs for Future Professions

During the meeting, existing programs at the vocational school and newly proposed programs were discussed. The new programs planned to be introduced to the sector are as follows:

• Hydrogen and Energy Storage Technician
• Green and Ecological Building Technician
• Hydraulic and Pneumatic Technician
• Maintenance and Repair of Electrical Machines

Emphasis on “3+1” Education and Digital Transformation

The following topics were also emphasized to strengthen school-industry integration during the meeting:

• 3+1 Education Model: Developing new company collaborations to increase the efficiency of the vocational training process in the workplace.
• Digital Internship System: Completely transferring the internship files and tracking processes to a digital environment.
• Curriculum Update: Assessing the current courses' level of meeting the sector's current expectations and organizing new technical certification programs.
• Career Planning: Planning career days and technical trips.
• Micro-Credential Programs: It was decided to open micro-credential programs aimed at equipping students with competencies such as effective communication, report writing, time management, foreign language, and process management.
• Accreditation: The status of programs that received AKAT certification and those with certification issues was discussed.

The meeting concluded with students expressing their expectations from the sector and the school, and a summary of the decisions made.
