Yapılış Tarihi | 04 March 2026, Wednesday
Within the scope of the 2nd Career Days organized by Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) Faculty of Tourism, on March 3, 2026, our students met with representatives of the tourism sector at the events held at MAKÜ Avşar Han. Through the conference titled “Career Tips from Professionals to Students” and the School-Sector Meeting, students had the opportunity to listen to important shares that would contribute to their career planning and to communicate directly with the sector.
As part of the event program participation, our college students were transported to the campus by bus on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at 10:00 AM and included in the organization. At the meeting held in the Avşar Han building, 17 hotels set up booths to provide students with information about internship and job opportunities. Our students had the chance to gain direct information about the transition process to working life, expectations, and career development steps by having one-on-one meetings with sector professionals.
At the opening of the program, the Dean of the Faculty of Tourism Prof. Dr. Murat Yeşiltaş emphasized that tourism is not only an economic field but also a dynamic structure that connects cultures, drawing attention to the need for qualified human resources in areas such as digitalization, sustainability, and experience-oriented marketing in the post-pandemic period. Speaking on behalf of POYD, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Bahar reminded our students of the importance of professional knowledge, experience, and a continuous development approach to make a difference in the tourism sector and offered suggestions for gaining a leadership vision.
MAKÜ Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Tekşen also stated that the university places great importance on applied education, expressing that organizations like career days strengthen students' professional orientations and significantly contribute to clarifying their goals.
The event, which took place with intense participation, concluded after our students had productive meetings with sector representatives. We thank all stakeholders who contributed to this meeting, which increased the career awareness of our college students, and wish our students success in their career journeys.
