Due to the global (COVID19) pandemic, MIDTERM EXAMS for the courses conducted through distance education in the spring semester will be in the form of assignment/project submission. Frequently asked questions and answers related to the topic, as well as explanations regarding assignment submission, are provided below. We kindly request the necessary sensitivity to be shown.

Who will submit these assignments?

• It is mandatory to take the midterm exam for all courses registered in the spring semester. Therefore, midterm assignments must be submitted for all courses you are registered for on OBS.
• Students who are taking a course for the first time or for the second or more times must submit the midterm assignment/project for all registered courses without distinction.
• For courses where the assignment is not submitted, it will be considered as not taking the exam.

Is there a midterm exam schedule?

• In formal education, midterm exam schedules are published, and the exams of the relevant course are held on the specified date, time, and classroom. However, due to the decision of the Higher Education Council and our university senate, the distance education system has been adopted, and it has been decided to conduct midterm exams in the form of assignment/project submission.
• Instead of creating a single day and time for assignment submission, a time interval has been determined for assignment submission. Therefore, the deadline for assignment submissions in our unit is May 17, 2020. Assignments can be submitted until the deadline after the assignment topics are determined. Assignment files cannot be sent after this date.

What are the rules to be applied in assignments?

• Assignments (or projects) must be uploaded to the distance education portal (uzak.mehmetakif.edu.tr) by May 17, 2020 from the date the topics are determined. The assignments to be submitted on this portal will be digital documents.
• Assignments larger than 10 MB (megabyte) will not be accepted by the distance education module. Therefore, these assignment files will be shared with the responsible instructor by sharing the link (URL) of the file in the student's personal cloud account as an explanation on the same module.
• The topics of the assignments and other rules related to the assignments are determined by the instructor of the course. You can contact the responsible instructor of the course.
• There may be differences in the rules for all courses.

What should we do if there are limited tools or facilities for assignments?

• You can convey these problems to the instructor. The responsible instructor will find a solution regarding your situation.

I cannot see the course/courses I will submit assignments for in the distance education module?

• First, check the courses you are registered for in your OBIS account. If the course you are having problems with is registered in your OBIS account, you can convey this problem to the instructor via email, phone, or other means.
• If these checks are not made and not conveyed, you will not be able to submit the assignment and will be considered as not taking the midterm exam.

Can we access a detailed information source about assignment submission?

• You can access the solutions through the links below for the documents and videos prepared by our university's Distance Education Application and Research Center Directorate.
• If you think you cannot find sufficient answers to your questions in the links below, you can first reach the responsible instructor. Alternatively, you can convey your problem to the email address uzak@mehmetakif.edu.tr by correctly specifying your student number, department program, and course name information.
