Excuses and being considered excused
ARTICLE 27 – (Title amended: O.G.18/08/2014-29092)
(1) The following are considered justifiable and valid excuses:
a) In case the student has health-related excuses documented by a health report obtained from health institutions, the days the student is on report are counted as absenteeism.
b) (Amended: O.G.14/04/2016-29684) The student being assigned by the Rectorate to participate in scientific, cultural, artistic, sports, and similar activities representing the University.
c) The emergence of other reasons accepted by the relevant unit's administrative board.
(2) The decision on whether students who cannot attend midterm exams are considered excused is made by the relevant unit's administrative board. The principles regarding excuses are as follows:
a) (Amended: O.G.20/05/2018-30426) In case students have justifiable and valid reasons for the acceptance of their excuses, they must submit the documentary evidence related to the excuse specified in the first paragraph, along with a petition, to their unit within three working days at the latest following the end of the midterm exams, the excuses are evaluated by the unit's administrative board on the fourth working day and announced on the fifth working day.
b) A student whose excuse is accepted by the relevant unit's administrative board cannot take exams during the period from the moment the excuse occurs until it ends, and the exams taken during this period are canceled.
c) The health reports that students will obtain from health institutions must include the date and time of the excuse.
ç) (Amended: O.G.20/05/2018-30426) In cases where the students assigned according to subparagraph (b) of the first paragraph or those whose excuses continue due to being on report during the week when the make-up exams are held, and in cases where the make-up exam application period is necessarily exceeded due to severe illness, accident, severe illness or death of a first-degree relative, natural disasters, and similar situations, the evaluation is made by the unit's administrative board.
d) Applications not made within the specified period are not accepted.
Due to these reasons, STUDENTS WHO WANT TO TAKE THE MAKE-UP EXAM must fill out the excuse form and submit it to our directorate along with the excuse document attachment by the end of business on Wednesday, April 3, 2019.
Applications will be evaluated by the Administrative Board and announced on our website on April 5, 2019.
Make-up exams will be held between April 8, 2019 - April 12, 2019 on the date and time determined by the responsible instructor of the course.
