Meetings of the School Board and MEDEK Commission were held at the Technical Sciences Vocational School

On June 4, 2026, the School Board Meeting for the Spring Semester of the 2025-2026 Academic Year and the MEDEK Commission Meeting were held at Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Technical Sciences Vocational School.

 

Under the chairmanship of our School Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ragıp YILDIRIM, the meetings were held with the participation of the school administration and department heads, where general evaluations regarding the 2025-2026 academic year were made, and planning for the 2026-2027 academic year was also discussed.

 

Within the scope of the School Board Meeting, the advisory board meetings, student-administration meetings, information activities, technical trips, sector meetings, external collaborations, and signed protocols conducted throughout the year were evaluated. Additionally, discussions were held regarding the matching of companies and programs for inviting sector experts to classes under the YÖK-TOBB protocol.

 

The meeting also detailed the quality and accreditation processes. Evaluations were made on the analysis of measurement and evaluation results of program outputs on a departmental and program basis, effective use of the Exam Management System, measurement of learning outcomes, examination of faculty and course evaluation surveys, updating of ECTS information packages, and regular preparation of meeting minutes.

 

Within the scope of the Vocational Education process in the business, plans were discussed to allow students with valid excuses who are extending their studies to benefit from the IME application during the fall semester. Regarding the implementation of the decisions of the Unit Advisory Board, the calendar and participant list for the “Sector-Student Meeting” event planned to be held at the beginning of the 2026-2027 Fall Semester were discussed.

 

The meeting also evaluated the micro-competency programs planned for the 2026-2027 academic year. It was aimed that the programs planned to be opened in effective communication, report writing, time management, and foreign language areas would contribute to the professional and personal development of students.

 

In terms of faculty needs, it was stated that requests were made for two faculty members for the Hydraulic and Pneumatic Engineering Program, one for the Automotive Program, and one for the Control and Automation Program. Under the TÜBİTAK 2209 A/B student projects, five projects accepted this year were evaluated, and discussions were held on incentives to increase the number of projects, mentoring processes, and providing project training to students.

 

In the success presentation section of the meeting, the accreditation certificate of the Mechanical Program, which was fully accredited by MEDEK for four years, was presented by our School Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ragıp YILDIRIM. The success of the Mechanical Program in the accreditation process was congratulated, and it was hoped that this experience would also contribute to other programs.

 

After the School Board Meeting, the MEDEK Commission Meeting was held. In the meeting, the programs for which applications will be made for the June period MEDEK II. Term were discussed. Additionally, it was evaluated to create a “Peer Evaluation” calendar for the faculty members of the Mechanical Program to share their experiences gained during the accreditation process with other departments.

 

Within the scope of the Graduate Tracking System, efforts were discussed to encourage students to register in the system through the mezun.mehmetakif.edu.tr address.

 

The meetings concluded with the general evaluation of the 2025-2026 academic year, strengthening quality and accreditation processes, and discussing plans for the 2026-2027 academic year.
